Tucked within the sheltered waters of the west coast of British Columbia and the east coast of Vancouver Island are hundreds of small islands and islets. Saturna Island

Rich with plant and sea life in British Columbia's Southern Gulf IslandsMost southerly and most rural of the Gulf Islands, Saturna is sparsely populated with only 300 or so residents. A peaceful and remote hideaway, it is a place for hiking, fishing, boating and kayaking. From Mount Warburton Pike, the highest peak in the Gulf Islands, you can see the San Juan Island, the Gulf Islands and Victoria.

Galiano Island

A friendly, welcoming island, this is a hub for sea kayakers. Galiano Island is home to Montague Harbour Provincial Marine Park, one of the largest marine parks on any of the islands. Most northerly of all the Gulf Islands, it is the driest in the chain.

Mayne Island

Rustic describes this 13 square km island. Rolling orchards and warm beaches are plentiful. Hunting on the island is banned making it a heaven for deer. Mayne Island is serviced by BC Ferries from the mainland and Village Bay is a transfer point for visitors on their way to the other islands.

North & South Pender

Separated by a narrow channel, North and South Pender Island are linked by a busy bridge. The islands are popular with cyclists and boaters with the island offering no less than 7 parks.

Gabriola Island

Rich in arts and crafts, this 14km long, 4.2 km wide island has approx 4000 residents. Gabriola is the most accessible of all the Gulf Islands and boasts 3 Provincial Parks. It is an area of quiet beaches, forested parks and wonderful ocean views.

Salt Spring Island

Largest and most populated of the Gulf Islands, Salt Spring has a population of approx 10,000. The people are as diverse as the island itself with artists, farmers, families and a large number of retired people. All attracted to the peacefulness, charm and mild climate found in these islands.
